In my work I’m interested in people and pictures and the relationship between the two. As an audio-visual artist who bases the work on already existing material I find interesting how sounds and images assume semantic significances, and how these change depending on the context in which the art piece is located. I like to think of my art pieces as active subjects that should be read in relation to other images, other art pieces, to the space and the time they exist in. To consider the single art piece as an active subject means to generate new meanings with the works more than to use them as symbols for something that already exists.
Even though I’m not strictly attached to just one thematic issue there are certain themes that are frequent in my work. I’m interested in social issues such as the visibility/invisibility of the individual in contemporary society and how social taboos are constructed and perceived through images and sounds.
