The third edition of Palinsesti (13th september - 2nd november 2008) will take place in the same locations of the previous years in San Vito al Tagliamento (PN) and this year also in the Fondazione Ado Furlan in Pordenone. Palinsesti is curated by Alessandro Del Puppo and Denis Viva, and their work was made with the collaboration of Fabio Belloni, Roberto Del Grande, Emanuela Pezzetta and Giovanni Rubino (the catalogue of the exhibition is published by Forum).
Palinsesti2008 is formed by three parts:
Knot_net;
The Flagrant Image. Painting in Friuli-Venezia Giulia during the Eighties;
In sesto.
The exhibition spaces of San Vito (Castello and Ex-Essiccatoi Bozzoli) and Pordenone (Fondazione Ado Furlan) accomodate the section called Knot_net, a project conceived by Denis Viva with the collaboration of Roberto Del Grande (who particularly dealed with the section “Screens”) and Emanuela Pezzetta.
This part of Palinsesti starts its reflections from the effects that the informatic revolution provoked on visual culture. “Access”, “connection”, “server”, are common words that were usually linked with internet. Nowadays the flow of communications is organized around a global system made by singles “nodes” (in italian “node” and “knot” are equivalent terms) linked between themselves in a world “web”. Since the birth of telecommunication technology, like phones or other broadcasting devices, the network structures are at the center of information and, in the last decade, they deeply influnced human relationships.
For this reason this conceptual couple (knot and net) often correspond in art to virtuality, multimedia and the use of internet like an interactive medium.
But did the development of the “art of connecting”, with hacker’s practice and sharing attitude, definitively exclude concrete matters from the arts?
This exhibition tries to explore a “countertrend” area in visual arts by focusing on the connective materials and the hidden aspects that informatic relations don’t reveal.
A path over istant times and lightness of purposes that new technologies imposed to our materiality.
Knot_net is divided in four sections that gather the works according to structural and conceptual criteria:
-Systems (Luc Mattenberger, son:DA, Vera Fedrigo & Franco Del Zotto) – machines and devices with an apparent useful purpose, systems of trasformation of resources that work and link different functional nets to get a result;
-Tissues (Puni, Simone Racheli, Liquidcat, Diane Scheunemann, Maria Elisabetta Novello, Colleen Alborough) – artworks revaluating primitives and non-technological values of “knot” and “net” as the meaning context of clothes (sewn, hunt, sailing), or the aspect and working of organic tissues;
-Circuits(Maria e Natalja Petschatnikov, Carlo Gloria, Cédric Hoareau, Mauro Ciani, Carina Randløv) - net closed-system in which there is a flow of energies that activates the distribution of electric energy or, generally, of physical waves;
-Screens – curated by Roberto Del Grande - (Kristleifur Björnsson, Stefano Cagol, Marco Campanini, Gianluca Codeghini, Walter Criscuoli, Rocco Dubbini, Joan Fontcuberta, Anja Puntari, Jason Salavon, Mario Sillani Djerrahian, Franco Vaccari, Usefull Photography #2) – photographic processes obtained by the interaction of the net with the use of digital and analogical elaboration of images.

The second part of the exhibition is called The Flagrant Image. Painting in Friuli –Venezia Giulia during the Eighties and was conceived by Fabio Belloni with the collaboraration of Giovanni Rubino. Its location is Palazzo Altan (San Vito al Tagliamento - PN). The exhibition focuses on the local situation of figurative Painting in the Eighties, compared with the international recognition of movements like Trans-Avantgarde or Neo-Expressionism.
The historical point of view tries to analize and to understand how some international and national styles could be related with a fervent and interesting affirmation of figurative painting in the region, after the ideological decade of the 70s.
ARTISTI:
Palazzo Altan (San Vito al Tagliamento - PN):
Serse, Nata, Manuela Sedmach, Giancarlo Venuto, Mario Di Iorio, Walter Bortolossi, Claudio Guerra, Franco Ule.
The exhibition In Sesto, conceived by Alessandro Del Puppo, will be displayed at the Ospedale dei Battuti of San Vito al Tagliamento. Three mature artists were asked to realize site-specifi works for the places they were invited to, by interpretating the historical places at their disposal. Each of these artists share with the other ones a coherence about the strictness of their works, a continuity in research and a faith in the deep reasons of their own language.

Ospedale dei Battuti (San Vito al Tagliamento):
Paolo Patelli, Federico De Leonardis , Maria Novella Del Signore.
